Parents and Teachers

We are taught how to gain things in life, but not what to do when we lose them.

I have put this programme together with the help of two very special children who were expressing their feelings through anger, frustration, insecurity, attention seeking, fighting – any of this sound familiar? Not understanding that they were grieving, feeling confused, helpless with no say in what was happening, they expressed themselves in their behaviour. This would happen at school and at home.

When we started to work together, I could see the new information landing with them, they were making the connections between what they were learning, what had happened and their behaviour. This helped them ‘open up’ and start to share their concerns.

From that, I could give the children and parents the support they needed to help them understand the effects of the losses that they had experienced.

The children became more relaxed, understood what triggered them, learned new ways to help themselves when they faced a challenge and most importantly, had conversations when they were struggling.
